A Horseradish With No Name

Updated: Sep 13, 2023

It may shock you to know, and it's certainly something many in the vegetable farming industry try to keep quiet. Unlike their animal counterparts, vegetables abused in the food industry don't get recognised as individuals in any way. During their whole lifespan they will never be given a name. In animal farming, it's common for the cherished and humanely raised animals to be recognised with a number tag stapled through their ear or a number spray painted onto their body as a sign of love and compassionate recognition from their loving owners. Vegetables don't get this special treatment, and you can only imagine how this feels for little turnips, carrots and leafy greens alike. We're launching a campaign to address this issue, and with your support we will be able to bring this to governments to make sure that every vegetable, no matter how big or small, will be given a name from birth so that they can feel happy about themselves and grow into the vegetable they truly deserve to be.
